FAQs about laser hair removal in Ottawa.

What is laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal involves applications of intense light or pure laser to target the depth and colour of hair within active hair follicles (we have three hair growth cycles). The pigment of that hair will selectively absorb the light or laser energy and denature the hair follicle. Hair growth cycles are neither exact nor consistent so we anticipate a standard time between cycles and schedule laser hair removal treatments accordingly; we will need to capture each cycle of hair growth for permanent hair reduction. Permanent hair reduction is achieved when hair has not regrown after three growth cycles.

Is laser hair removal safe?

When laser hair removal is provided in a physician-directed facility by an experienced technician using clinically proven, medical-grade technology, patients should experience safe and effective treatments. All laser hair removal treatments should begin with a thorough consultation and assessment.

What body areas can be treated with laser hair removal?

Almost all face and body areas can be treated safely and effectively. Small areas may include the upper lip or between the brows. Other commonly treated areas include the underarms and bikini for women and chest and back for men. The legs, forearms and abdomen can respond well to laser hair removal, as will some delicate areas such as around the areolae.
