Moles and skin tags are common growths that can occur anywhere on the body.
While moles and skin tags are generally non-cancerous, harmless, and don’t always require treatment, they may pose health risks in some cases. Moles that are irregular in shape, colour, or size may be a sign of skin cancer and should be assessed by your family doctor or dermatologist. For any suspicious moles, we do ask you to see your family doctor first and have a referral sent to our office. For cosmetic moles only, you can book directly with us. Skin tags that become irritated, inflamed, or bleed may also require professional attention.

Here are some general guidelines to follow before your procedure:
The cost of skin tag removal in Ottawa depends on various factors, like the size and location of the growth and the technique used to remove it. If you have specific price-related questions, connect with us at Concept Medical so we can evaluate the concern and determine the overall cost. Our cosmetic mole removals start at $495.
An initial assessment with a physician is necessary to determine whether or not the mole poses a health risk. The diagnosis and management of these skin spots vary widely, and our professionals will be pleased to address your concerns about your skin lesions during your consultation.
The way in which moles and other skin lesions are removed depends on the area and size of the mole. A detailed consultation with our physicians will determine the most appropriate way to remove your mole or skin lesion.
Moles and other skin lesions can be removed from almost anywhere on the body. However, we do not offer skin tag removal from the face, neck, or groin area. Please contact us for more details.
We use minimally invasive surgical techniques, including minor excision, electrodesiccation and cryotherapy, to remove skin tags and other minor skin growths, including moles, cysts, and seborrheic keratosis (age spots). Our methods are safe, effective, and tailored to your specific needs. It’s important to note that at this time, we typically do not remove these growths from the face, neck, or groin regions. Of course, with all minor procedures, risks are possible, and results vary.
This is one of our most common techniques for skin tag removal in Ottawa.
Electrodesiccation involves using a specialised tool that delivers a small amount of electric current to the base of the growth, which burns it off. This process is quick and relatively painless. You may experience mild discomfort and scabbing in the treated area for a few days following the procedure. In most cases, only one treatment is necessary to remove the skin tag. Freezing is applied prior to ensure a comfortable treatment.
This treatment uses liquid nitrogen to freeze the skin tag. This causes the cells to die and the growth to fall off naturally within a few weeks. Like electrodesiccation, this procedure is quick, and no stitches are needed. You may experience blistering in the area post-session. Cryotherapy is an effective option for patients who prefer a non-invasive procedure for smaller skin tags.
Typically moles and larger skin tags need to be surgically removed. Our physicians will inject a small amount of freezing into the area and surgically remove the mole or skin tag. Occasionally sutures are required for larger removals.
Your patient journey is unique and begins with an in-depth consultation.
