A laser hair removal device creates a highly concentrated and focused beam of light that can be selectively absorbed by dark pigment in your hair and hair follicle. When the pigment in the follicle absorbs the energy created by the laser hair removal energy, heat is produced. This heat, although lasting only a very brief time, is sufficient enough to damage the hair, and most importantly the hair producing follicle and blood vessels feeding the targets hair. The heat created by the laser hair removal device seals off the blood vessels to these active hairs, preventing their growth. Following a laser hair removal session, some hair is immediately lost, with the rest shedding over the following few weeks. Hair growth is separated into there distinct phases. First, is the anagen phase, also known as the active growth phase. Following this phase is the catagen phase, or dormant phase followed by the fall-out stage, or telogen phase. Laser hair removal works only in the anagen phase, where the hair follicle is rich in colour. During any a treatment session, approximately 25-35% of hairs contain enough pigment to be permanently reduced by laser hair removal. Fortunately, any hairs that are not eliminated during a laser hair removal session usually return thinner and lighter in colour. The most important thing to know about laser hair removal is that not all laser hair removal devices are created equally.
