There’s been a growing interest in Latisse in Ottawa. At Concept Medical, we know why! Latisse is the first FDA and Health Canada approved prescription treatment for inadequate eyelashes, growing them longer, fuller and darker. Mascara can only work to make existing lashes longer or thicker. However, Latisse in Ottawa actually works to produce more lash growth. The History of Latisse in Ottawa
The same producer of Botox and Juvederm created Latisse in 2001. Years before a medicated eye drop was developed to treat elevated intraocular pressure. Many patients using this medication also began to grow longer, fuller, and darker lashes. This ‘side effect’ led Allergan to study the medication’s active ingredient, bimatoprost, specifically for growing lashes. As an ‘eyelash grower’, bimatoprost’s function is slightly different. After clinical trials, Latisse was approved by the FDA in December of 2008. At Concept Medical, Latisse has been offered to our Ottawa patients since 2010.
Latisse – Grows Lashes Longer, Fuller and Darker
Latisse is a once-nightly treatment applied to the base of your upper eyelashes, as instructed by your doctor. Latisse improves lash growth because of its active ingredient, bimatoprost. Latisse is believed to affect the growth phase of the eyelash hair cycle in two ways. First, Latisse increases the length of the growth phase and second, Latisse increases the number of hairs in the growth phase. Latisse works gradually over weeks. You may start to see more eyelash length in as little as 4 weeks after starting Latisse and you should achieve maximal results in 16 weeks.
